INLAND WETLANDS AND WATERCOURSES COMMISSION
September 9, 2015

15-7 – Lyme/Old Lyme Junior Women’s Club Playground Committee –Applicant: Town of Old Lyme – 26 Town Woods Road – Proposal to relocate gazebo and plant 2 trees
Call to order at 5:35 PM.
The Commission members met with Emily Griswold who pointed out the area to the northwest side of property where the applicant wants to relocate the existing gazebo found within the existing fenced playground and plant two (2) “wetlands tolerant” trees adjacent to the vernal pool wetland as shown on submitted plans. With no activity proposed within any wetland or watercourse itself, the Commissioners and the applicant discussed any potential impacts that could occur from the planned activity.
The purpose of the activities is; 1.) To provide shade to those persons watching the soccer games at the park, 2.) Provide additional shade for those using the existing playground and 3.) Provide for an additional buffer as protection to the adjacent vernal pond. Ms. Griswold identified an additional place where the gazebo could be finally located; one which would not present any additional needed wetlands permitting as this area was outside of the Town’s Upland Review Area.
No other discussion was held and no decisions were made.
The site walk adjourned at 6:00 PM.
